When Harry met the Alphabet Code

When I met Tammy in an online conversation group, somewhere around 2016, I could not foresee the impact it would have on my life.

She, a 17 year younger woman, then was living at the far end of another continent, some 8000 km away. She was pretty, charming, smart and with an amazing talent for connection. That was palpable in the one hour Zoom conversations we held with an eclectic group of global citizens.

The weekly meet ups were designed as conversational experiments and ranged from very simple protocols (always agree) to the most bizarre (only communicated through a sock puppet). In this way a lot of topics were discussed amongst which was the Alphabet Code. Tammy shared she received this code sitting on the couch one day as a 20 minute download. I immediately was both skeptical and intrigued. I came to know Tammy as a committed participant with an acute sense of measuredness and integrity. But her claim that each letter of the alphabet holds a specific meaning totally denied all logic. There is no way that an historically evolved notation system like our western alphabet magically reveals a totally different set of meanings. Yet, that was exactly the essence of her claim.

This left me with a conundrum. Either I took her seriously and with that this bizarre story or I had to dismiss her as someone out of touch with reality. That last stance was unlikely, given her otherwise super relevant participation. She certainly was not crazy or too far ‘out there’. I was intrigued. Of course I heard about people channeling information from ‘elsewhere’, but I never took it seriously enough to go down the rabbit hole to find the ultimate truth about it. But Tammy seemed open and intelligent enough to at least have a conversation about it. She was absolutely serious about it, but I assumed that her claim could not withstand some serious scrutinising. I assumed I would be able to debunk it in a few one on one conversations. So I showed my interest in a deep dive onto this ‘body of knowledge’ as she called it and she agreed to explain me everything I wanted to know.

Boy, was I naïve. I entered the conversation (all on Zoom of course) with my crap detector on max. I was confident I would quickly discover flaws and inconsistencies that would make the whole story and hence its claim fall apart. You can probably see it coming: I failed. That did not happen. I was totally surprised, and I could not poke a hole in it. So I brought all my skills as an artist and thinker, creating images and explorations only to be amazed by the beauty and coherence of the code. This is beyond the imagination of one simple human. So, an enigma. Join us in our amazement and an exploration beyond rationality.
