First heard as: peace

V is the twenty-second letter of the alphabet, and is the letter for flow. When I first received the meaning, I received the meaning ‘peace’. Upon more recent reflection, it feels more resonant to capture the meaning as ‘flow’.

As the twenty-second letter, V is divisible: by 2 and 11. Beingness and conscious choice inform this letter: as a good friend shared with me, it is like the banks of a river. Our conscious choices create the banks, and the energy of our beingness creates flow.

When I first heard it as peace, I was a bit confused. Peace seemed so passive, and this letter is anything but passive – and truly when I more deeply considered the practice of peace I was more able to ‘get’ the meaning. Essentially, the work to empty our ‘vessel’ or container of all that is not us, or stuck is needed before that feeling of peace can be realized. And it is not static, or passive at all: which is why flow is more accurate as a word to describe V.

V is the first letter of the second triad of the third tier: and where I feel the identity of the whole self takes on a new, embodied dimension: flow. We are the river of life, and the banks are formed by the foundation of the choices of our beingness. This initiates the eternal breath that is the larger quest of coming into our wholeness, as we orient to our place within the flow of life that is the coherent identity that includes all and transcends the boundaries that separate.
